Montessori Inspired Infant Mobiles

Updated: Jan 3

The Montessori mobiles are introduced to newborns as a way to help develop concentration, lay the foundation for future learning, and provide entertainment. The ages listed below are just guidelines. Observe your child to see when her interest fades to know when to switch the mobiles.

The Munari Mobile is the first mobile and is introduced when a baby is around 2 weeks of age. The black and white provides high contrast for baby's developing vision.

The Octahedron Mobile is the second mobile and can be introduced to baby around 6 weeks of age. It provides the foundation for future learning in geometric proportions and patterns.

The Gobbi Mobile is the third mobile and is generally introduced when a baby is 7-10 weeks of age. The purpose of this mobile is to further refine the child's developing sense of sight by providing a slight change in tone from one ball to the next. The manner in which the balls are hung in a staggered fashion enable the baby to practice adjusting their focus from the ball that's closest to their face to the one that's farthest away.

The Dancers Mobile comes next around 10 weeks of age. The beautiful colours and delicate paper swaying gently provides eye-catching entertainment and develops focus.
